What:
Day nineteen of the second Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge. I’ve had this digi — I actually found it on a site that has printouts for kids to colour — on my to-colour list for a while, but I was worried I wouldn’t do it justice.
How:
I started out with the idea of using metallic colouring for the dragon and turned to Jennifer Dove’s Color of the Day for inspiration. There I found her recipes for shiny copper and tarnished gold, which I used, with slight modifications, for the belly and wings of the dragon. Then I had to come up with a colour for the main body and eventually settled on using a soft green; I chose the blend using Sandy Allnock’s wonderful hex chart, which I would recommend to anyone who colours with Copics. The last touch was to colour the head markings, the claws and the pattern down the back of the neck with gold gel pen.
Lessons Learned:
Just go for it. You don’t know how it will turn out until you do it and you can always print another one if it goes horribly wrong.
