The Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge #13

Watercolour flowers

What:

Day thirteen of the second Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge. I’ve been meaning to do some embossing and watercolour since day one and I finally got around it today.

Inspired by:

This was on my list of things to make, but I was reminded of it by Michelle’s card over at the Card Grotto.

How:

I started by stamping the flowers in Versamark ink on watercolour paper, adding fine white embossing powder and heat-setting it. For the flowers I used only two colours of the Clean Color pens — light violet and light green — applying a small amount at the base of each petal or leaf and using a brush and water to spread it out.

I stamped the sentiment, added a glitter dot to the left of it and cut it down to size. I trimmed the watercolour panel to the height of the card base, but narrower, and positioned it on the base, leaving room to add the sentiment, which was popped up on foam tape. The final touch was to add a thin black glitter border to the edge of the flower panel.

Lessons Learned:

The texture on watercolour paper can sometimes make getting a clean stamp impression tricky so it’s useful to have a Versamarker to hand to fill in any gaps before embossing and avoid the watercolour spreading where it shouldn’t.
