What:
Day four of the second Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge. Another stamp set moves from the unused to used pile. I love this cute giraffe…
How:
I stamped the giraffe and coloured it with Copics. Choosing colours for something I haven’t coloured before is usually a matter of having a search to see if anyone has been helpful enough to have coloured something similar and listed the Copics they used, then discovering that I don’t have those exact colours or I’m not completely sold on the colour palette and, recently, heading over to my hex chart to see if I can make suitable substitutions and testing them out.
I then masked off the giraffe’s head with masking fluid and, once that was dry, masked off a circle behind the head and created a sun using Distress ink pads and a mini ink blending tool. The panel was trimmed down, the corners rounded and the edges inked with more Distress ink.
I added a few strips of vellum to the card base to break up the background and mounted the giraffe panel using foam tape. A few sprinkles and a die-cut hello finished it off.
Lessons Learned:
Be even more careful removing masks than you think you might possibly need to be. That applies to all types of masking, whether fluid, sheets or tape. Even Post-it tape can lift the surface of the paper if you’re not careful.
