The Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge #2

Copic coloured die cuts

What:

Day two of the second Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge. I thought I’d do something simpler than the detailed scene I did for day one. I think it needs something else, but I haven’t figured out what yet.

Inspired by:

This was on my list of techniques to try during the challenge anyway, but then I was reminded of it by Laura Bassen’s blog hop entry.

How:

I die cut the hexagon pattern from Neenah solar white and spent some time arranging them on the card base — essentially the same arrangement as on the die, but spread out to fill more space on the card, leaving room for the sentiment. After photographing the layout for reference and marking the centre point of the largest piece, I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed it in white.
I started colouring with the largest piece and worked outwards, choosing blends based on the nearest colour of the closest neighbour. Once all the pieces were coloured I attached them to the card base with foam tape — I used thinner tape for the smallest pieces. I finished it off with a coat of Wink of Stella.
