What:
Day nineteen of The Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge. I appear to be going through a phase of things not working out as planned. On the plus side, this does mean I’m getting better at coming up with fixes.
How:
The plan was to heat emboss the stamp in gold and do a watercolour rainbow with the rings. Unfortunately the watercolours I chose to use, well, they have their uses, but this wasn’t one of them: the colours were very washed out at any reasonable dilution and didn’t spread nicely on the wet paper. Not being at all happy with the result, I sprayed down the paper, blotted off as much paint as I could and left it to dry, while contemplating whether I could rescue it.
Once it was dry, I got out my inktense blocks — as I can be sure of a rich colour from them — and painted the rings in black and various shades of yellow. And then I doodled all over them in white and black.

Judikins – embossing powder – gold detail
